It took the owner 5yrs to talk his neighbor into selling him this El Camino.  He would drive by it on his way home from work.  It was only driven occasionally to haul trash to the dump.  After purchasing the car it sat in his driveway for 2yrs.  Eventually he realized he did not have the time to restore the car himself.  The car was a great candidate for restoration.  The only rust was in the bed access panel and below the rear glass.

The engine was given a compression check and was good.  The engine was then upgraded to HEI ignition, edelbrock manifold, edelbrock carb, and electric choke.  Headers and 2.5" dual exhaust was then installed.  The brake system was rebuilt.  Air shocks were installed in the rear to level the car.

The interior, external trim, glass removed, and doors aligned before going to paint.  The car was then painted Luxor blue with silver SS hood stripes.  three coats of clear was applied for preparation of color sanding.

The bed access panel was replaced and sealed before a bed liner was applied.  The undercarriage was cleaned and undercoated.

The car was then color sanded removing all orange peel and paint imperfections

Once sanded the paint was then cut and polished to a brilliant luster. Notice how pronounced the metallic is in the paint.

Glass, exterior trim, bumpers, and new 17" Torque thrust rims were installed.  The SS hood stripes were painted silver to match the center of the rims.  The side panel trim and reverse lights in the tailgate were removed for a more resto mod look.  The original hood was replaced with a steel cowl hood.

Dash wiring harness and switches were cleaned and inspected.  New carpet, headliner, and door panels were installed.  Original seats were replaced with leather heated electric bucket seats and a matching console was also installed.  New door weather striping was also installed.  The wing windows were disassembled and rebuilt.
